Day 1: ARRIVE LAGOS, NIGERIA

Upon arrival at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, proceed through immigration, collect your luggage, and clear customs. Once you exit the terminal, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional cultural tour guide. You will then be transferred to your hotel for check-in. After settling in, your tour guide will provide a brief orientation and give an overview of your upcoming experiences. The remainder of the day you will be at leisure to rest and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead.

Day 2: LAGOS – BADAGRY – LAGOS

After breakfast, depart for Badagry, a historic coastal town in the west of Lagos near the Benin Republic border. Founded in the early 15th century along a lagoon off the Gulf of Guinea, Badagry’s natural harbor made it a significant port and a major center in the transatlantic slave trade. Upon arrival, embark on the Badagry “Slave Route” Tour, which includes visits to: · The Old Slave Market · The Slave Trade Museum, featuring historical relics and artifacts · The Seriki Abbas Compound (Slave Barracoons) · Gberefu Beach, the final embarkation points for enslaved Africans . After the tour, return to Lagos for a relaxing evening at your hotel.

Day 3: LAGOS – ABEOKUTA – LAGOS CITY TOUR

After breakfast, we depart to the Nigerian Conservation Foundation’s (NCF) Lekki Conservation Centre, a serene nature reserve that offers a refreshing escape from the city’s bustle. Enjoy a walk along the boardwalk and canopy walkway, the longest in Africa, offering stunning views of the forest canopy. Along the way, you may spot playful monkeys, colorful birds, and a scenic manmade pond filled with vibrant fish species—perfect for nature lovers seeking peace and connection with the environment. Continue to the Lekki International Craft Market, renowned for its vibrant collection of handmade art, jewelry,sculptures, and traditional craft items. Take time to browse the curio shops and pick up unique souvenirs. Next, visit the Nike Art Gallery & Cultural Center, the largest privately owned art gallery in West Africa, housed in a striking four-story building with an adjoining café. The gallery showcases over 10,000 pieces of contemporary and traditional Nigerian art. If available, you will have the opportunity to meet Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye, the internationally acclaimed textile artist and founder of the gallery. After lunch, continue to the National Museum, Onikan, home to a remarkable collection of Nigerian art and artifacts representing the country’s diverse cultural heritage. The museum features archaeological, ethnographic, and artistic exhibits, including statues, carvings, and relics from various ethnic groups.

Day 4: LAGOS | ACCRA, GHANA

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Accra. Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, proceed through immigration and customs formalities. You will be warmly welcomed by your cultural guide, who will accompany you to your hotel for check-in. Once settled, take the rest of the day to relax and unwind in preparation for the exciting activities planned for the following days.

Day 5: ACCRA

Welcome to Accra, a vibrant city where modern architecture harmoniously blends with colonial charm. As one of West Africa’s oldest and most culturally rich capitals, Accra offers a captivating blend of history, heritage, and contemporary urban life.

Your tour begins with a visit to the W.E.B. DuBois Centre, the former residence of the legendary Pan-Africanist. Now a museum and research center, it is dedicated to preserving his vision of African unity and intellectual heritage. Continue to Independence Square, a historic site where Ghana’s major national celebrations are held. Pause at the Black Star Gate for memorable photos—an enduring symbol of Ghana’s independence and unity.

Next, explore the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, beautifully renovated and spanning 5.4 acres. This national monument honors Ghana’s first president, Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, and features a museum showcasing personal artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia from different stages of his life. The park also houses the mausoleum where Dr. Nkrumah and his wife, Fathia, are laid to rest.

After lunch (on your own account), head to the Accra Arts & Crafts Centre, the city’s largest open-air market. Here, you can shop for authentic African souvenirs, from colorful textiles and beaded jewelry to paintings and traditional carvings—perfect keepsakes of your time in Ghana.

Return to your hotel in the evening to refresh and unwind before an exciting night ahead.

Day 6: ACCRA | ASSIN MANSO | ELMINA

After a leisurely breakfast, depart for Elmina, one of Ghana’s most historic coastal towns. En route, stop at Assin Manso Slave River, a significant memorial site in Ghana’s history of the transatlantic slave trade. This site serves as the final resting place of two enslaved Africans from the U.S. and Jamaica, whose remains were re-interred here in August 1998 during Ghana’s first Emancipation Day Celebration. At the site, you will visit the “Slave River,” where captured Africans were bathed and rested before being taken to the coastal slave castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean. Continue your scenic drive to Elmina. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Spend the remainder of the evening at leisure, relaxing and soaking in the coastal atmosphere. Day 7: ELMINA | NAMING CEREMONY | ELMINA

After breakfast, visit Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest European structures in sub-Saharan Africa. This historic monument stands as a powerful reminder of the transatlantic slave trade and its lasting impact. At the castle, you will participate in the “Fihankra” Ceremony—a symbolic homecoming ritual designed to reconnect people of African descent, whose ancestors were displaced during the slave trade, with their ancestral homeland. The ceremony honors the restoration of cultural and spiritual ties that were severed for centuries. The final part of the Fihankra includes a traditional naming ceremony held at the Elmina Chief’s Palace. Participants are kindly requested to dress in white as a symbol of purity, peace, and renewal. After the ceremony, enjoy lunch (at your own expense) before returning to your hotel. Spend the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure, relaxing and reflecting on the day’s profound experiences at your resort.

Day 8: ELMINA | ACCRA

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin your journey back to Accra. Departure time will be arranged in consultation with your tour guide. If desired, you may choose to include an optional visit to Kakum National Park (at your own expense), one of Ghana’s most famous ecological attractions. Enjoy a guided walk through the lush rainforest, where you can observe a variety of bird species and colorful butterflies and possibly encounter some of the park’s over 40 mammal species, including monkeys and the rare forest elephant. Experience the park’s highlight—the Kakum Canopy Walkway, the only treetop walkway of its kind in Africa. Spanning over 1,000 feet across seven suspended bridges, it offers breathtaking panoramic views from platforms over 150 feet above the forest floor—an unforgettable experience for nature and adventure lovers alike. After exploring Kakum, continue your drive to Accra. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take time to relax and unwind. In the evening, cap off your Ghanaian adventure with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Enjoy great food, music, and company as you celebrate the memories and experiences from your journey before retiring to your hotel for your final night in Ghana.
