Day 1: ARRIVE BUJUMBURA

Arrive in Bujumbura, meet assist, and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon begin a city tour, highlights include: The snake and Culture Museum (Musee Vivant) Rusizi National Park The Buyenzi Muslim center Belvedere climb, which offers a beautiful scenic view of Bujumbura and Lake Tanganyika The Living Stone Monument Meal(s) Included: Dinner Overnight at Club Du Lac Tanganyika Hotel

Day 2: BUJUMBURA CULTURAL TOUR

After breakfast, drive to the Rusizi National Park, home to hippos, antelopes, and monkeys, along with numerous species of colorful birds. See where the Rusizi River empties into Lake Tanganyika. Afterward, visit the Explorers’ Memorial, a huge rock in the Suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between explorers John Speke and Hanington. After a late lunch, visit the fishermen at Rumonge port located South of Bujumbura, and learn about the different species of fish in Lake Tanganyika. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner Overnight at Club Du Lac Tanganyika Hotel

Day 3: BUJUMBURA – GITEGA – GISHORA

After breakfast, visit the drum sanctuary of Gishora, famous for drum making. The area houses two ritual drums that have never been beaten; Ruciteme, “the one for whom we clear the forest," and Murimirwa, “the one for whom we cultivate." There are also ordinary drums that the Batimbo (drummers), could beat on special occasions in the country. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner Overnight at Helena Hotel

Day 4: GITEGA – RUVUBU NATIONAL PARK – GITEGA

After breakfast, drive to Ruvubu National Park near the lower valley of the Ruvubu River, an open savannah, with swamps and forests. There are antelope, buffalo, monkeys, and over 425 bird species. The river is home to hippos and crocodiles. In the evening, return to Gitega, for dinner and overnight. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner Overnight at Helena Hotel

Day 5: GITEGA – NYANZA- KIGWENA FOREST

After breakfast, drive south to Nyanza, characterized by the large palm tree plantations and Oil production. Visit the local palm oil production; continue to Kigwena Forest Reserve for a nature walk. The Reserve is home to monkeys, baboons, and various bird species. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner Overnight at Saga Nyanza Resort

Day 6: MUGARA HOT SPRING VISIT -BUJUMBURA

After breakfast, visit the Hot springs of Mugara, comprised of two small falls that form a basin downstream. The springs flow into a common passage and into lake Tanganyika. In the evening, return to Bujumbura with a stop at Blue Bay Resort for fishing. Dinner and overnight. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner Overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel

Day 7: DEPARTURE

Day at leisure; transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast
