The Hotel des Mille Collines would like to extend a warm welcome to you. For more than 45 years, Rwanda has been known for its hospitality. The hotel takes its name from Rwanda’s motherland, which is known as the “land of a thousand hills,” and was inspired by the country’s unique natural setting. The Hôtel des Mille Collines, which opened its doors in 1973 as the country’s premier grand hotel and became a shelter, a light of hope in the darkness for a terrified crowd of up to 2,000 people who were saved by the hotel opening its doors in 1994 during the Genocide against the Tutsi, is without a doubt Rwanda’s most famous hotel.
