The Banana Island Guest House is located in Dublin, Banana Island, near Sierra Leone’s Western Peninsula. Banana Island is made up of three islands: Dublin, where the guest house is located, Richettes, and Mes-Meheux, which is deserted and home to a diverse range of vegetation and bird species. The islands of Dublin and Ricketts have a population of roughly 900 people and are connected by a sliver of sand that is submerged at high tide; a stone bridge connects the two.

A restaurant, a fully supplied bar, and three two-bedroom chalets with tiled private bathtubs and running water are available at the guest’s home.

In the evenings, solar lights and lanterns give illumination. The islands were first visited by Portuguese mariners in the 17th century or earlier, and were established by freed slaves in the late 18th and 19th centuries, whose descendants make up the majority of the island’s population today. The land title to most of the island has been held by famous Krio families for more than 200 years, with the rest of the land owned by the community.
