Day 1: Arrival in Accra, Ghana

Firstly, Our first day of Ghana 8-Day Special   brings us to Accra, the capital of Ghana

Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, you’ll proceed through immigration, claim your luggage, and clear Customs procedures before exiting the airport to meet our expert Cultural Tour guide. From there, we’ll begin our Accra city trip with a scenic drive through the beautiful University of Ghana, Legon campus for a tour. Following this, we’ll head to the hotel where your guide, who will accompany you throughout your stay in Ghana, will provide an orientation on what to expect during your trip. The rest of the day is yours to explore the local way of life and history or simply relax. We’ll spend the night at the Urbano Hotel, which includes breakfast in the morning.


Day 2: Accra

Welcome to Accra, Ghana’s busy capital, which now is a mix of modern-day edifices and colonial-era architecture that gives you the feeling of a tremendous adventure. As you depart after a magnificent breakfast at your hotel, our tour will take you through the W.E.B Du Bois Centre honoring the life of the prominent Pan-Africanist who chose to live and work in Ghana. Next, Jamestown Community-One of Accra’s most historic neighborhoods where history resides on every corner.

TRAVEL- Continent Tours – Coast of Accra


We continue to the Brazil House, where we learn about the seven Afro-Brazilian families that returned to Ghana in 1836 to settle, this is our final stop on day one of our tour in the late afternoon.

We’ll stay at Urbano Hotel for the night. which includes breakfast in the morning.


Day 3: Accra – Kumasi

Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a scenic drive through the renowned forest zone towards Kumasi, the former capital of the Ashanti Empire. Here, we’ll discover the legendary Ashantis and their enduring legacies. En route to the Mampong Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine, we’ll take a picturesque drive through the Aburi Mountains. At the Centre, researchers explore the use of plant medicine for treating a variety of diseases.

Arrive at Kumasi late in the afternoon and tour Manhyia Palace, which served as the formal residence of Ashanti Kings (Asantehene) until 1974 and is now a museum housing priceless Ashanti Kingdom artifacts.

The rest of the day is free for you to relax. We’ll stay overnight at the Noda Hotel, which includes breakfast in the morning.


Day 4: Kumasi – Craft Villages

After breakfast, you will go to three craft villages in Kumasi’s verdant countryside. Bonwire will be our first craft village, where we’ll discover how the famed Kente cloth is woven on looms in a time-honored technique. Take a look at the Kente styles and make a purchase. We may make a polite call to this community’s supreme chief.

We’ll travel to Ntonso, where artisans hand-stamp patterns on a cotton cloth to create Adinkra Textiles. Learn how the Black Dye is manufactured in the village from the bark of trees and make your Adinkra sash to take home. Large pieces of Adinkra Cloth, which are handcrafted in the hamlet, are also available for purchase.

Visit the Kumasi Central Market (also known as the Kejetia Market) this evening, West Africa’s largest open market, where over 10,000 sellers sell their items. You can find almost anything here, including food, textiles, beauty goods, and handmade crafts.

The rest of the day is free for you to relax. We’ll stay overnight at the Noda Hotel, which includes breakfast in the morning.


Day 5: Kumasi – Assin Manso – Elmina

After breakfast, we’ll drive towards Cape Coast, stopping en route at Assin Manso to pay respects at the gravesite of two former slaves from the United States and Jamaica. In August 1998, Ghana held its first Emancipation Day ceremony, during which the slaves’ bones were reinterred. We’ll also witness the “Slave River,” where captive Africans were bathed before being taken to the Slave Castles to await transportation to the Americas and the Caribbean. This historical site remains visible to this day.

Visit the Cape Coast Castle and Museum for a guided tour when you arrive on Cape Coast. The “Door of No Return” is located in Cape Coast Castle, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We’ll stay overnight at Coconut Grove Beach Resort, which includes dinner that night and breakfast in the morning.


Day 6: Elmina – Kakum – Elmina

Visit Kakum National Park after breakfast. One of Ghana’s most well-known parks is Kakum. Take a short walk onto the forest floor to witness birds, butterflies, and maybe even a sight of the roughly 40 kinds of mammals that live there, including monkeys and the elusive forest elephant. Continue to the canopy walk.

Next, Visit Elmina Castle, established in 1482 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The earliest European construction built in Sub-Saharan Africa was this castle. In the evening, you’ll go to Mesomagor, a local village, to observe the Bamboo Orchestra in action.

We’ll stay overnight at Coconut Grove Beach Resort, which includes dinner that night and breakfast in the morning.


Day 7: Elmina – Accra

You will check out of your accommodation after breakfast and depart for Accra. You’ll make a brief stop in Abandze, the hometown of Louis Armstrong, the legendary American jazz musician.

Arrive late in the afternoon in Accra. Lastly, we go to Osu’s famed Oxford Street (which includes the Global Mamas Shop, Woodin Shop, and other local booths selling highly colorful and stunning African apparel, beads, and accessories) or the Wild Gecko on Airport Road.

Furthermore, You might wish to end your trip to Accra with a farewell meal at a local restaurant near your hotel to take advantage of the city’s vibrant nightlife.


Day 8: Accra
