Day 2: TOUR OF MALABO
Day 2: TOUR OF MALABO

Spend the day touring Malabo after breakfast. Malabo is the capital city of Equatorial Guinea, located on the northern tip of the island of Bioko. The island was originally conquered by the Portuguese in 1494 and passed through the hands of the British and Spanish on a frequent basis until the country's independence in 1968. The city's ancient colonial architecture, with towering walls, wrought-iron work, and elegant shutters and blinds, reflects its colonial legacy. The Spanish tile in the cathedral square is particularly notable.

Another nearby attraction worth seeing is the Spanish-Equatorial Guinean Cultural Center. After arriving there, you may walk out onto the peninsula where the deteriorating Hotel Bahia resides and enjoy the stunning island beauty that Malabo has to offer. It is extremely unusual, as it is built around a natural harbor that was originally the crater of an old volcano. Malabo has a leisurely, dreamy vibe that will transport you to a coastal retreat.

The island's nature is characterized by high mountains and deep valleys, and it is rich in tropical flowers and vegetation. The Lago A Pot, a large crater lake in the island's middle, is a must-see. The vista is really stunning. After your island adventure, you will return to Malabo.

Day 4: MALABO AND VICINITY

Visit the beautiful crater lakes of Lago Loreto and Lago Biao in Northern Bioko after breakfast. Lago Biao is well-known for its little egrets and dabchicks (small grebes), as well as palm nut vultures, turacos, and the beautiful blue plantain-eaters that may be observed when going to the crater. Several monkey species live in the region, including the black Colobus and the red-eared guenon. Later, go to the neighboring falls, where three different tributaries of the Iladyi River collapse into an 800-foot-deep abyss. You're on top of the tallest waterfall, surrounded by moss-draped trees and with a view of the other waterfalls. With a moderate climate and rich volcanic soil suited for growing tomatoes, beans, and other crops, the region is also an important agricultural centre. Return to your Malabo hotel after that.
