Northern Ghana is one of the most beautiful parts of West Africa. The landscapes are fantastic; there are magnificent forests, rivers, lakes, and plains. The diversity of wildlife is also impressive, with elephants, lions, leopards, and plenty of monkeys.
The region has an interesting history as well. The ancient Ghana Empire was based in what is now northern Ghana, and its capital was determined by archaeologists to be at Kumbi Saleh on the River Komoe in northern Burkina Faso, near the border with Mali.
The trip will start with a tour of the city of Tamale. Tamale is the capital of the Northern Region of Ghana and is situated on top of a hill surrounded by mountains. It is home to many historical sites, including the Tamale Museum, which houses various artifacts from the ancient past.
Our second stop will be a visit to Mole National Park, along with a lovely trip through small villages.
Then a visit to the oldest mosque at Larabanga, the oldest mosque in Ghana and one of the oldest in West Africa, is a must-see. Also known as “Africa’s Mecca.” Look at the mystical stone.
