Then continue to Egypt, home of one of the world’s greatest ancient civilizations, where monumental pyramids, majestic temples, and priceless artifacts bring thousands of years of history to life.

This evening, you may begin the exciting activities or enjoy a relaxing evening to unwind and prepare for the activities planned for the following day.
Overnight: The Pelican Hotel
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take a scenic drive around Accra’s commercial and administrative areas and visit the following places:
The W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, honoring the life of the prominent Pan-Africanist who chose to live and work in Ghana.
The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, with its beautiful grounds and museum, is a great place to learn about Ghana’s first president. It also serves as the final resting place of the late President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who was previously laid to rest in Guinea and Nkroful, the town where he was born.
Adjoining the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum is the famous global marketplace, the Accra Arts & Crafts Centre. Try out your bargaining skills at the largest open market in Accra while shopping for authentic African wear, arts, and crafts as souvenirs for family and friends back home.
Drive by and make a brief stop at the Independence Arch and Black Star Square, Accra’s ceremonial grounds.
We then return to the hotel.

It is also the reburial site of two descendants of enslaved Africans from the United States and Jamaica, whose remains were ceremonially reinterred in August 1998 during Ghana’s first Emancipation Day celebration.
Continue to Elmina for a guided walking tour of Elmina Township, including the bustling fishing harbor. Here, you will witness traditional fishing activities, vibrant fleets of colorful wooden boats, and have the opportunity to interact with locals at the market.

Continue with a short drive to Cape Coast to tour Cape Coast Castle, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This former slave dungeon held more enslaved Africans than any other castle in the region. Your guided tour will take you through its somber dungeons and to the infamous Door of No Return. The castle also houses a museum that provides deep historical context on the slave trade and the cultural heritage of the region. Literature and souvenirs related to Ghanaian forts, castles, and traditions are available for purchase.
