Arrive in Bujumbura, meet your guide, and travel to your accommodation.

Day 2 Bujumbura
Day 2 Bujumbura

After lunch, go to the tomb of Prince Louis Rwagasore, a hero of Burundi's independence, which is located in the "Belvedere." The Belvedere is a prominent landmark in Bujumbura that provides a spectacular view of Lake Tanganyika. "Les tambourinaires du Burundi," or Burundi Drummers, will entertain you in the evening.

Day 3 Burundi-Kalera Falls

After breakfast, travel south to "la pierre de Stanley et Livingstone," a commemorative stone marking the location where the famed explorers Stanley and Livingstone slept on their search for the Nile's source. After that, see the breathtaking "Kalera Falls." Drive to Gitega in the afternoon to see the Burundi National Museum.

After breakfast, travel to Rwanda's Nyungwe Forest National Park via the rugged region that gave Rwanda its nickname "the country of a thousand hills." After lunch, go go hiking to see Blue monkeys and Angolan Colobus monkeys, among other things.

Drive to Gisenyi, near the beaches of Lake Kivu, after breakfast. Stop for lunch in Ruhengeri and then see a magnificent performance by the Intore Traditional dancers.

Drive to Virunga Park headquarters after breakfast for a training on how to "behave" in the presence of a gorilla group. The length of the journey varies based on the location of the gorillas and the weather. Meeting these gentle giants in their native habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that everyone should have. Good hiking boots, long pants, and gloves are needed for protection.

After breakfast, travel to Uganda's Lake Bunyonyi for a cultural tour around the lake's southern shoreline. Visit a few Pygmy settlements. Pygmies from Rwanda walk across the mountains to sell their produce at the Hakekuba market. Before returning for supper, take a canoe excursion in the afternoon.

After breakfast, go for a brief stroll around a local village in Bunyonyi. Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is known for its tree-climbing lions and big herds of Uganda cobs, Topis, buffalos, and elephants. Enjoy a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel late in the day.

After breakfast, go on a game drive in the early morning to observe lions, topis, elephants, Uganda Kobs, and buffaloes. After your early game drive, transfer to Jinja. Enjoy the lovely Ankole countryside before stopping at the Equator for a quick photo opportunity and presentation from your guide. Before continuing on to Jinja, stop for lunch in Mbarara.
