DAY 1: ACCRA - AKOSOMBO - TAFI ATOME - HO

We leave very early for a wild adventure to Ho. Shai Hills Game Reserve is where we stop. Continue on to Akosombo for an exciting tour to the Akosombo dam, which was Ghana's first source of electricity.

Drive onward to Ho over the Adomie bridge. Stop at Tafi Atome's attractions to see the playful Mona and Patas monkeys, which are largely found in a limited area of forest. This little forest has survived as a haven for the monkeys, whom the people revere and cherish, despite the fire and human interference. Early evening arrival in Ho.

We headed to Mole National Park after breakfast. On the way to Shari Village, an unreached people group of the Akyode that is isolated from the rest of civilization, travel by Kyabobo National Park, which is located at the base of Mount Djbobo on the border with Togo. The locals, almost all of whom are African Traditionalists, depend on fetish priests for "power."

Following your interaction with the locals, head back as we continue on to Mole National Park after a quick break in Tamale. As you pass numerous Dagomba communities, pause at Mole National Park attractions.

Hike in the early morning and do a safari before breakfast. Leave for Kumasi after breakfast and a quick freshen up. Visit Kintampo Waterfall, one of Ghana's tallest waterfalls in the Bono East. During colonial times, it was also known as Sanders Falls, and it is situated on the Black Volta tributary river known as the Pumpum river.
At the Buabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, we'll make our last stop. Ghana's most well-known traditional African conservation project is the Buabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary. Over 200 Geoffrey's Pied Columbus and 500 Campbell's Mona Monkeys reside in the sanctuary, which is tucked between the two communities of Buabeng and Fiema. The inhabitants of Boabeng and Fiema have revered monkeys for more than 150 years. Both groups' cultural beliefs forbid physically harming the monkeys. Arrive in the evening in Kumasi.
