The Dak’Art & St Louis Jazz Festival is an incredible showcase of African cultural excellence. Travel to Saint Louis for the world-famous St. Louis Jazz Festival, which features jazz musicians from all around the world. Saint Louis is a charming French colonial village. Visit Dakar, Senegal’s main city, with its colorful marketplaces, historical landmarks, and the famed Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the location of “The Door of No Return.” Admire the wonder that is Pink Lake, a distinctively colored Pink body of water from which salt harvesters make a living.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dakar, Senegal (May 31st)

You will be greeted, escorted, and taken to your accommodation upon arrival in Dakar. Your knowledgeable cultural tour guide will advise you on the planned activities and what to anticipate during your stay in Senegal.

Day 2: Dakar and Vicinity (June 1st)

After breakfast, begin your city tour of Dakar and its surrounds. You'll travel by the presidential palace and the main church before continuing along the seafront route to Soumbedioune market and the mosque de la revelation from the city's centre, Independence Place. The journey to Dakar will emphasize the distinctions between rich residential areas and other popular neighborhoods. You will also visit important locations such as Kermel and Tilem market. The Renaissance Monument, which looms above Dakar and is taller than the Statue of Liberty, is the next stop. The once-contentious bronze statue is now a popular attraction for both locals and visitors.

Continue on to the Museum of Black Civilization, Africa's most contemporary and comprehensive museum, with four floors of historical objects from all across the continent.

Following that, we go to the Dak'Art exhibitions and displays. Dinner will be served in your hotel.

Day 3: Dakar – Goree Island – Dak’Art and Festival (June 2nd)

We travel after breakfast for Goree Island, a now peaceful UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore the often calm lanes adorned with pastel-colored colonial-era structures. The House of Slaves, which recounts Goree's history, is one of the most notable buildings here. Examine the "Door of No Return," which millions of people went through on their journey to slavery. The curator will walk you through Goree's history.

There will be time to explore the Town Square, the Historical Museum, and the quiet lanes dotted with pastel-colored cottages.

Return to Dakar after lunch to see the Dak'Art exhibitions and displays.

Day 4: Dakar – Thies – Saint Louis ( June 3rd)

After breakfast, begin your journey to Saint Louis. On the way, we'll stop for lunch at Thies. Beautiful baskets weaved by local artists are well-known in this city. After lunch, you will be able to purchase baskets, hats, and other products at reduced prices. Continue to Saint Louis, where you will arrive late in the afternoon. Check into your accommodation, have supper, and get ready for the spectacular Jazz Festival this evening.

Day 5: Saint Louis – Lac De Guiers – Richard Toll – Jazz Festival (June 4th)

Depart towards Lac Guiers after breakfast. We will see traditional Senegalese communities. We'll make a pit break in Keur Momar Sarr, where there's a bustling weekly market on Saturdays. Spend some time at the crowded market to get a sense of Senegal life. Continue to Lake Guiers, Dakar's major water supply. We then go to a Fulani community. Take note of the vibrant clothing, headgear, jewelry, and distinctive customs. We proceed to Richard Toll, who is well-known for his livestock husbandry and fishing, but is most known for his sugar cane plantation and sugar mill, which provides the majority of the sugar consumed in Senegal.

Return to Saint Louis in the late afternoon to recharge, relax, and eat before the Saint Louis Jazz Festival festivities this evening.

Day 6: Saint Louis – Rao – Jazz Festival (June 5th)

We depart for Rao after a superb buffet breakfast at your accommodation.

We'll pass through little communities before arriving at enormous red dunes. This natural wonder will astound you. Continue on to Rao, stopping at the local market and seeing the diverse ethnic communities. We will visit a selected hamlet and learn about local activities such as farming and other sources of revenue. Return to Saint Louis in the late afternoon to recharge, relax, and eat before the major Saint Louis Jazz Festival festivities this evening.

Depart from St. Louis today for Touba, the Holy City of the Mouridi Brotherhood.


Discover West Africa's sole city that is independent of the central government; people pay no taxes. Touba's independent rule has been compared to that of the Vatican. Visit the primary facilities and learn about the history and founder of Mouridism.



We drive from Touba to Dakar through Pink Lake. Pink Lake is an unique natural phenomenon caused by an uncommon combination of microorganisms and a high salt concentration, which results in the lake's pink color.

The colour is no longer often pink due to increasing salt production.

Interact with the women harvesting salt. Continue to Dakar, check into the hotel and prepare for dinner before evening activities.

Day 8: Dakar – Dakar/Depart (June 7th)

Today is at leisure for individual activities. At the right time, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
