Spend the day in Ouidah, the birthplace of Voodoo. Visit the Museum of History where the exhibits focus on the slave trade and Benin’s links with Brazil and the Caribbean. Visit Kindji market square. Visit the Cathedral and the famous Temple of Sacred Pythons.
Tour of Ouidah continues including the slave trading post , the sacred forest. Walk the “Road of the slaves”, visit the place of the common grave, the tree of forgetfulness and the “gate of no return.”

Explore the mysteries of the Voodoo religion at Ouidah’s annual voodoo festival, where thousands of people gather to honor the land and demonstrate their faith. In addition to religious ceremonies, there are clothing displays, seafood markets, and traditional African music. This is one of Benin’s largest festivals and is considered to be a celebration of culture.

As the sun sets, the Zangbetos begin their concluding dance, their rattles making an amazing sound in unison. The voodoo drums begin to beat harder and faster, reverberating off the surrounding hills.
