Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVE IN DAKAR
Day 1:  ARRIVE IN DAKAR

Arrive in Dakar, meet your guide, and transfer to your accommodation.

Overnight at Le Ndiambour or Similar

Day 2: DAKAR – CITY TOUR – GOREE ISLAND
Day 2: DAKAR – CITY TOUR – GOREE ISLAND

Tour Dakar after breakfast. Pass through the vibrant marketplaces of Sandaga, Tiline, and Kermel. Explore the Great Mosque, Independence Square, the Presidential Palace, the IFAN Museum, which houses a great collection of West African masks, the Cathedral, and the retail malls on Pompidou Avenue. Then go to Soumbedioune's artisanal village.

Take a ferry boat to famous/infamous Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the afternoon. Examine the "Door of No Return," which millions of Africans walked through on their route to slavery in the Americas. The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum and a talk on the history of Goree Island by the curator. Return to Dakar in the late afternoon.

Day 3: DAKAR – PINK LAKE –THIES- ST LOUIS
Day 3:  DAKAR – PINK LAKE –THIES- ST LOUIS

Drive to Saint Louis this morning. On the route, stop by Pink Lake, a remarkable natural phenomenon caused by a unique combination of microorganisms and high salt concentrations that gives the lake its pink hue. Interact with the ladies collecting salt and visit the Fulani village, where the chief and his wife will greet you. Before arriving in St. Louis, continue to Thies and visit the National Gallery of Tapestry.

Day 4: ST LOUIS – DJOUDJ – ST LOUIS
Day 4: ST LOUIS – DJOUDJ – ST LOUIS

Drive to Djoudj Park this morning. There will be thousands of birds and hundreds of species to view. We'll go on a motorized canoe excursion. We could also encounter snakes and crocodiles. There is also the possibility of seeing a warthog. After the visit, return to St Louis and have a horse-drawn carriage tour of Saint Louis (Senegal's old colonial capital). Explore the small alleyways lined with cottages that have carved wooden balconies and verandas. You will visit the governor's residence, an 18th-century castle, and the only mosque in the world with a bell originating from the colonial period.

Day 5: ST LOUIS – TOUBA – KAOLACK
Day 5: ST LOUIS – TOUBA –  KAOLACK

After breakfast, you will travel to Kaolack, stopping along the route to explore little villages and the sacred city of Touba, which was created by Ahmadou Bamba, a respected Holyman who began Senegal's Pan-Africanism battles. Continue to Kaolack after lunch.

Day 6: KAOLACK – TAMBACOUNDA – KEDOUGOU

Drive to the Niokolo Koba park today, traveling via Tambacounda and stopping at little settlements along the route. Arrive to your accommodation in the early evening.

Day 7: KEDOUGOU – TOMBORONKOTO – KEDOUGOU

Continue your exploration of rural Senegal. Drive to regions where people acquire gold the traditional way; walk to several bedik villages; and spend the night in Kedougou.

Day 8: KEDOUGOU – BASSARI COUNTRY

Today, drive to village settlements in the Kedougou area. To visit the Bedik people, go between Kedougou and Salementa. Meet the Biwol and Etyowar at their main village settlements, such as Iwol. Then you drive to visit Dindelo's cascade. Return to Kedougou in the late afternoon.

Day 9: KEDOUGOU – KAOLACK

Cross the Niokolo Koba park today on your way back to Kaolack. Stop at spots of interest to pique your interest even more.

Day 10: KAOLACK – SALY

Breakfast followed by a trip to Joal Fadjouth and Mbour. Joal, the birthplace of Senegal's first president, Leopold Sedar Senghor, and Fadiouth, a lovely town covered with oyster and clam shells. The food is stored in granaries erected on stilts. Arrive in Saly and spend the night at your resort hotel.

Day 11: SALY – BANDIA PARK – SALY
Day 11: SALY – BANDIA PARK – SALY

Early in the morning, head for Bandia Park for a safari. Possibility of seeing animals such as crocodiles, antelopes, rhinoceroses, monkeys, buffalos, and giraffes, among others... Observe the famed Baobab tree, which has been used as a graveyard for over a century. There is a bar restaurant inside the game reserve where you may have some refreshments. Go back to Saly.

Day at Leisure at the beach hotel.
