DAY 2: DAKAR CITY TOUR – GOREE
DAY 2: DAKAR CITY TOUR – GOREE

Following breakfast, we go on a Dakar exploration trip. The African Renaissance Monument, which stands 164 feet tall and is taller than the Statue of Liberty, is one of the sites. The once-controversial bronze figure is now a popular attraction for both residents and visitors. It depicts a man, woman, and kid pointing, representing fresh African optimism. Conservative organizations compelled the government to lengthen the woman's previously short skirt to a more modest length, at a cost of more than US$ 10 million. We will also go to Independence Place, the city's hub, and see the presidential palace and the important cathedral. In the afternoon, take a 20-minute ferry voyage to Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is both attractive and notorious. Explore the normally peaceful streets dotted with largely pastel-colored colonial-era houses from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of Dakar Bay. The House of Slaves, which commemorates Goree's sad history, is one of the most notable buildings here. Examine the "Door of No Return," which millions of Africans walked through on their route to slavery in the Americas. The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum and a talk on the history of Goree by the curator. Overnight, we return to Dakar.

DAY 3: DAKAR – PINK LAKE – TOUBA – KAOLACK

After breakfast and check-out, we drive to Kaolack, stopping at several spots of interest along the way. Visit Pink Lake along way, a remarkable natural phenomena generated by a unique combination of microorganisms and a high concentration of salts, which gives the lake its distinctive pink color. Interact with the salt harvesting ladies. We go on to Touba, a sacred city. Visit one of West Africa's largest and most stunning mosques. You will discover about Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the spiritual founder of Mouridism, Senegal's sole brotherhood. Learn about the history of Touba, an independent city similar to the Vatican and one of Senegal's most important cities.

We continue to Kaolack, a crossroads of civilizations and well-known as Senegal's peanut basin. If time allows, stop by a Fulani or Wolof hamlet and its St. Maure - an open market.

DAY 4: KAOLACK – NDAGANE

The site has around 11000 etched stones. The quarry where the monoliths were dug and hundreds of them have been tracked is nearby. We make our way to the Sine Saloum. Sail through the mangrove forest to observe river birds and marvel at nature's splendor. Overnight in Niagara.
